My Journey: From Classical Pilates to Ido Portal & Neuromovement

How I Started with Pilates

After a decade as a top-10 internationally ranked triathlete—with podium finishes in six countries and a second place at Ironman Canada—I faced recurring stress fractures and chronic hip issues. I needed a practice that combined precision, control, and mindful movement to rebuild my strength. That search led me to Classical Pilates, and I dove in completely.

  • Formal Apprenticeship: I trained as a Master Classical Pilates teacher under leading instructors, including Jay Grimes—one of the few who studied directly with Joseph and Clara Pilates.

  • Deepening Expertise: I mastered mat work, reformer, Cadillac, chair, and barrel through intensive workshops and mentorships with second-generation teachers of the Pilates lineage.

  • Global Teaching: Over the past 17 years, I’ve presented at dozens of Pilates conferences worldwide—sharing my passion for honoring the traditional repertoire while integrating modern movement science.

  • Media & Publications: My methods have been featured in Vogue Poland and the bestselling book Before, During & After Menopause, where I contributed insights on empowering women through midlife transitions.

Every certification, conference call-out, and masterclass refined my understanding: Pilates wasn’t just rehabilitation—it was a gateway to greater vitality, confidence, and a lifelong curiosity for movement.

Expanding into Ido Portal Movement

Yearning to explore movement beyond the classical repertoire, I discovered the Ido Portal Method. This approach emphasizes:

  • Natural Movement Patterns: Crawling, hanging, locomotion, and playful exploration of one’s body.

  • Strength & Adaptability: Bodyweight challenges that develop coordination and resilience.

  • Creative Flow: Encouraging students to move dynamically and intuitively, weaving Pilates precision into freer movement dialogues.

By blending Pilates fundamentals with Ido’s movement vocabulary, I crafted a practice that builds not only core stability but also total-body versatility.

Integrating Anat Baniel Neuromovement®

To deepen the mind–body connection, I turned to Anat Baniel Neuromovement. This gentle, neuroscience-based method uses:

  • Mini-Movements: Slow, precise explorations that “wake up” neural pathways.

  • Neuroplasticity Principles: Rewiring the brain to unlock new movement possibilities.

  • Holistic Healing: A profound tool for stress relief, injury rehabilitation, and enhanced self-awareness.

The precision and gentleness of Neuromovement seamlessly complement Classical Pilates, offering students a path to rediscover ease, grace, and joy in every muscle and joint.
